Does your household love to snack? My family will snack all day long. Their favorite snacks consist of chips and cookies. I told them we need to bring some healthy snack ideas in our home. We need to ensure we are putting some healthy goodness in our bodies a little more often.
Chips and cookies are easy. You grab a bag or grab a few and go on your way. There are grab and go healthy snacks too. Look, I believe in simple. So, let me share a few things we’ve added to our snack folder.
- Fruit – Fruit was a major waste. We would purchase too much and would buy a lot of fruit that was stored in the fridge. It ended up in our fruit tray and forgotten. You already know how that turned out. Old, nasty fruit that was tossed. So, for any refrigerated fruit, it is now washed and placed in these containers in eyesight. I also started buying more fruit that could be placed in a fruit bowl and out on our counter. Grab and go!
- Smoothies – If you have fruit around, why not make some smoothies? As you wash and sort your fruit into the containers, put some in a bag to freeze. I received my first ever food sealer the other week. Not only do I use that joker to seal our chip bags, but it comes in handy to vacuum seal fruit for yummy smoothies.
- Nuts – I love eating nuts. Don’t judge me, but I usually have nuts in my purse. Yes, a bag of nuts stashed in my purse. They are filled with lots of nutritional benefits.
- Veggies – Celery, cucumbers, carrots, and broccoli are great to keep around for a healthy grab and go snack. Add a little ranch dressing and you’re golden.
Healthy snacks are important to add to your diet, but there’s no need to go cold turkey on your chips and cookies. All things in moderation is the way to live.
