October is here, and the weather is changing (well, sort of).  Leaves are falling, and the plan for warmer clothes is happening (because we all need to shop for winter clothes in our house).  Although the weather is a bit confused right now, we will go with it.  The temperatures are still pretty warm for this time of year in my opinion.   But let’s get to the point.  The point of this post is not to talk about the weather, but about how changing a mindset to focus on my health and fitness again.  Join me and exercise your body this Fall!

The leaves are falling, many plants and trees become dormant.  Animals go into hibernation.  Everything is alive but inactive.

This is exactly how I used to live my life for Fall and Winter.  I took the approach that during Spring I could reactive with a snap of a finger.  You know, cause we begin seeing the plants grow, the animals roam again.  But….nature has a course and these things go through cycles to get roaming again.   And that my friend is how I’m approaching my fitness goals.

Exercise your body this Fall

I was going strong with working out faithfully.  Running (I hate running), lifting, situps, burpees, wall balls, squats, deadlifts, etc.  There were days my legs and arms cried out as I walked or tried to lift them. Yes, I even fell a few times because my legs hurt so bad. I hated my entire workout group most days but kept going back because I loved the transformation of my body.

As I progressed, I realized I felt better.  Yes, this gal was that person who thought it was a bunch of hogwash about feeling better due to exercise.  My body loved the extra movement, my husband loved the new shape that was taken place, and I LOVED the progression with my body toning up. My mind was clear, and my soul was happy.  Don’t get me wrong, my husband loved me before, but he saw a transformation in a happier and healthier me.

There’s a misconception that skinny automatically equals healthy.  That is a lie!  Skinny folks have health problems too.  We must ensure we eat properly and fit some form of exercise into our lives.  No matter how little or much exercise you can squeeze into your life, do it.

Fitness isn’t about weight loss; it’s about taking care of YOUR health.

So, as we enter Fall, I’ve made a promise to myself that I will not go into hibernation, but that I will begin the process of taking care of my health NOW.  Don’t wait till the New Year and don’t wait until Spring to work for that “perfect” body.

You do know that the perfect body is you LOVING THE BODY you have and taking care of it!

The goal is to add 20 push-ups (may not seem like many, but this gal is struggling these days) to my nightly routine before bed.  Do a regular workout routine Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  Go for a jog once a week (remember, I hate running.  I much rather sprint).  A change to my diet is a MUST too.  Breakfast for certain, more fruits for snacks and a better variety of veggies.
